Entry requirements – Cambodia travel advice
This page reflects the UK Government’s understanding of the current rules for travel from the UK by persons holding a full “British Citizen” passport, which apply to the most common types of travel.
Cambodian authorities set and enforce entry rules.
All passengers
You need a visa to enter or travel through Cambodia as a visitor. Tourist visas can be applied online or obtained on arrival.
If you are fully vaccinated
If you are fully vaccinated, you only need to show proof of vaccination to enter Cambodia.
Cambodia will accept proof of vaccination records issued by the UK in the Crown Dependencies, but should be printed out in advance. The NHS appointment card you get from a vaccination centre is not intended to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to certify your vaccination status.
If you are not fully vaccinated
Unvaccinated travelers are no longer required to quarantine on arrival, but must return a negative COVID-19 antigen rapid test (LFT), which will be administered by health officials at all points of entry into Cambodia. There will be a fee of $5.00 per exam.
Travellers who test negative will be allowed to continue travelling in Cambodia.
If the test comes back positive, people with mild symptoms can isolate at home or any other accommodation determined by the Ministry of Health. Those with more severe symptoms must isolate at a designated state COVID-19 treatment center. All costs associated with any treatment and accommodation will be borne by the traveler. You may be asked to prove that you have sufficient funds to cover all expenses.
If you have been infected with COVID-19 in the past year
Anyone who has been infected with COVID-19 in the past year is still subject to entry requirements that apply to their vaccination status.
children and adolescents
Children 17 and under can follow the rules for fully vaccinated travelers entering Cambodia.
Unvaccinated children 17 years and younger will be quarantined for the period that applies to accompanying adults.
If you are transiting through Cambodia
Transiting through Cambodia and staying at the airport (airside) is currently not permitted.
If you are passing through Cambodia on your way to another country and will be passing through immigration (sometimes called a layover), such as staying in a hotel for your next day flight, you will need to meet the entry requirements that apply to your vaccination status.
exempt
There are no exceptions to these entry requirements.
Check your passport and travel documents before travelling
Check with your travel provider to make sure your passport and other travel documents meet their requirements.
passport expiry date
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Cambodia. Entry is usually refused if your passport is damaged or pages are missing.
Your passport should also be valid for at least 6 months for any subsequent renewal or extension of visa you apply in Cambodia.
visa
Visa fees, conditions and photo requirements are subject to change. Check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation website for the latest information on fees, conditions and photo requirements and how to apply for an e-Visa.
Tourist visas issued by the Royal Cambodian Embassy abroad may be valid for more than 1 month. The validity period of the visa refers to the time you have to enter Cambodia. The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of actual entry into Cambodia. Make sure your passport is stamped upon arrival and keep the departure form. If you lose your departure form, you will need to contact immigration officials to make other arrangements before leaving the country.
If you overstay your visa, you may be fined, detained and deported. Overstay visas are valid for a penalty of $10 per day. There is no limit to this fine. Those who overstay for more than 30 days will need to leave Cambodia in addition to paying the fine.
If you lose your passport and need to leave Cambodia with a UK emergency travel document, you will need to obtain an exit visa.See UK Emergency Travel Documents
Alien Registration
The General Directorate of Immigration of the Ministry of Home Affairs will refuse visa extensions for foreigners who are not registered with the Cambodian Foreigner System (FPCS). FPCS will be used to record and manage the information of foreigners upon arrival at any point of entry and to record their data when they leave Cambodia. Its main objective is to protect the safety and security of foreigners in the event of an emergency during their stay in Cambodia. Registration applies to all foreigners in Cambodia, including tourists and residents.
The Immigration Department has clarified that registration is the responsibility of the host (landlord/hotel owner) and not the responsibility of foreign residents/visitors. Foreigners who are not registered will not face any fines, but they will not be granted a visa extension until the landlord/hotel operator enters the foreigner’s details into the system.
You should confirm with your landlord that they have registered you on the app, if not, ask them to do so.
If you don’t have a landlord/own your own home, you need to register yourself.
The FPCS app is available for free download on iOS and Android. The General Directorate of Immigration has a video tutorial on how the app works (although the video has narration in Khmer, the pictures are in English text: FPCS Video Tutorial
In-app tutorials are in English. There are 6 steps to registration:
- Create an account (phone number, password)
- Upload a copy of your passport
- Verify information
- Enter a valid phone number and password
- verify
- Add accommodation information
The Royal Government of Cambodia announced that, effective immediately, the automatic extension of tourist visas for foreigners and the waiver of tourist visa overstay fines will be ended.

work pass
To work in Cambodia, you need a valid business visa and a valid work permit. Business visas are issued by the Immigration Department and are usually provided upon arrival at Phnom Penh Airport or Immigration Department. You can apply for a business visa in advance at the Cambodian embassy closest to you. Your employer needs to apply to the Department of Labour and Social Affairs for your work permit.
The Cambodian government is now enforcing these rules more strictly than in previous years. There is some uncertainty as to whether the government will retroactively charge individuals who did not previously have a valid work permit. Procedures are subject to change and you should always consult the relevant Cambodian government department for the latest advice.
Yellow Fever Certificate Requirements
Check if you need a yellow fever certificate by visiting the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s TravelHealthPro website.
UK emergency travel document
The UK Emergency Travel Document (ETD) can be used for entry, airside transit and exit from Cambodia.
If you are leaving the country using an ETD issued by Cambodia (and therefore not containing an entry stamp), you will need to obtain an exit visa from the Cambodian authorities after obtaining the ETD. An exit visa costs USD 30 and must be obtained from the Cambodian Immigration Office, Phnom Penh, 332 Russian Avenue, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It takes up to 3 working days for Cambodian authorities to process an exit visa.
