Last Friday afternoon, when everyone was off work for the long weekend, Eden Island brought the Festival Kreol vibe to the mall, with cultural bands playing and singing as shoppers took a break in the mall.
Eden Island has many shops and even a shopping mall, but is generally seen as a quiet place surrounded by luxury yachts and stunning views. On Friday nights, the sounds of Creole music echoed through the arcades, giving it the feeling that a Creole festival is also on Eden Island.
Ministers in charge of tourism and culture, Alain St.Ange and Benjamine Rose, were on Eden Island as Creole music played in the mall. They met with the shopkeepers behind the event and congratulated them on their initiative. “For us at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, it is a real joy to learn about our culture through the music and songs that we ourselves and our visitors enjoy. This initiative on Eden Island must be congratulated and further encouraged,” said Minister St. Angel He said he also met Mrs Aarti Kerai at Eden Island Plaza when he arrived at the shopping mall earlier that afternoon.
