DOT strengthens tourism partnership with Japan


The Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) met with their Japanese counterparts to initiate and strengthen cooperation in tourism partnerships.

TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor-Nograles said the annual event, held in Osaka and Tokyo from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, aims to be a platform and venue for Philippine travel suppliers.

This year’s program includes several event segments: a Philippine seminar to introduce and update the Japanese travel industry on major developments in the Philippine travel industry; a business-to-business (B2B) conference, where DOT Tokyo and DOT Osaka are expected to target more than 120 participants from the Japanese travel industry; Buyers have one-on-one business discussions with Filipino sellers and host Filipino receptions for other business networking.

The Philippine delegation was led by Nograles and DOT Undersecretary of Administration and Finance Atty. Shereen Gail C. Yu-Pamintuan joined the event with local Filipino sellers comprising more than 60 suppliers from the travel sector such as hotels, resorts and airlines.

Nograles said the business visit to Japan will highlight the relaunch of new Philippine tourism products, exciting developments in the Philippine tourism industry, and the reopening of the Philippines’ borders to Japanese tourists for safe and new normal travel.

As the top international trade show for the Philippine tourism industry, TPB aims to generate sales leads, secure business deals and gather market intelligence for ongoing and effective marketing efforts.
