Did you know that private sector employees can get 10 days of study leave?


United Arab Emirates – Private sector employees in the United Arab Emirates are entitled to 10 days of paid leave per year to sit for exams.

According to the UAE official website u.ae, such study leave is only available to employees who have served their employer for more than two years.

“Employees studying at accredited educational institutions in the UAE are entitled to 10 days of paid leave per year to sit for exams. To claim this leave, one must have worked for the employer for at least two years,” the website states.

In addition to annual leave, private sector employees are entitled to five days of paid bereavement leave in the event of the death of a spouse and three days of paid bereavement leave in the event of the death of a parent, child, sibling, grandchild or grandparent.

Female employees enjoy 60 days of maternity leave. Among them, 45 days are vacations with full pay and 15 days are vacations with half pay.

In addition to the above-mentioned basic maternity leave, if an employee is unable to return to work due to illness due to pregnancy or childbirth, an additional 45 days of unpaid leave are available. Illness must be proved by a medical certificate issued by the corresponding medical institution.
