Jakarta (Antara) – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo is confident that the domestic tourism target of 1.4 billion by 2023 will be achieved.

Speaking at the 2023 #DiIndonesiaAja (Just In Indonesia) Travel Fair (#DIATF), which opened here on Friday, Tanoesoedibjo said her optimism was based on this year’s record Eid exodus, as Transport Minister Budi Kariya As expressed earlier by Budi Karya Sumadi.

“This is a positive sign that there is strong demand from residents to travel to various parts of Indonesia,” she stressed.

She said the government must take full advantage of all the opportunities presented by residents’ high demand for travel to domestic destinations, including through the 2023 #DIATF.

“We hope to optimize opportunities through this travel expo. We still have a few peak season potentials by the end of the year, let us optimize together.” She said.

Meanwhile, Tanoesoedibjo said the government has also set a target of 8.5 million foreign tourists visiting Indonesia this year, which she believes will also be achieved.

She noted that 2.24 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia in the first quarter of 2023 alone.

“Only in the third month (in 2023), we have recorded more than 800,000 visits, and if we reach an average of 700,000 (visits per month), we can reach our target of 8.5 million (by the end of the year). We Hopefully your support will take us to more than 10 million,” the deputy minister said.

The tourism fair, launched by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, aims to support the implementation of the Indonesia Travel Pride (BBWI) campaign programme.

2023 #DIATF will be held from 19-21 May 2023 at Kota Kasablanka Mall in South Jakarta.
