American airline Delta Air Lines recently announced that all non-stop service between the U.S. and South Korea will resume soon.
Delta just notified that starting October 2nd, they will be operating from two global hubs between Minneapolis/St. Louis. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN).
Initially, the airline will offer three flights a week, and will increase the frequency to daily service a few weeks later on October 29. The airline will also resume operations in Seoul, South Korea from Seattle on July 12, and will resume operations from Atlanta and Detroit to Seoul with increased daily service from August 2.
By restoring these services, Delta will restore its ties to South Korea to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Good news for those interested in visiting a country that has been restricting tourism during the pandemic and opened its borders when South Korea reopened to tourism a few months ago.
“As travel restrictions ease, international and business travel is expected to drive the next phase of Delta’s recovery,” said Matteo Curcio, vice president of Delta Asia Pacific. “Demand has been strong in Asian markets of late, especially in Asia.” In South Korea, as they have lifted COVID-era travel restrictions. The full recovery of the airline’s South Korean network is a positive indicator for the rest of Asia going forward.”
For these long-haul services, travelers can also enjoy Delta’s new menu options and even try new plant-based meals, such as the Impossible Burger and Lamb Meatballs made with vegan products.

South Korea Entry Requirements for U.S. Citizens
Vaccinated U.S. travelers interested in visiting South Korea this year should stay tuned for the latest news and updates. There are certain requirements that visitors must follow before, during and after their arrival.
According to the latest information updated on June 16, U.S. citizens must provide a negative COVID-19 test, PCR or rapid antigen test prior to entry. All travelers must also undergo a PCR test within 3 days of arrival. People who are only visiting for a few days can be tested at the airport, inside Incheon International Airport, or at other medical centers at their own expense.
If the test is negative, travelers will not be required to isolate, but must undergo a follow-up rapid antigen test 6 to 7 days after arrival, which can be done at their residence or at a nearby clinic. If the test comes back positive, the traveler will be transferred to a hospital or health center, depending on the severity of the case.
Prior to travel, U.S. travelers can complete a health questionnaire and travel record statement and submit it online using the Q-code system, but should also print it out if required at the airport. Passengers can also fill it out on the plane, and the airline should provide the required form. Upon arrival, travelers will undergo temperature checks and document verification.
