Chiva-Som Commemorates “International Mangrove Ecosystem Conservation Day” Mangrove Planting and Charity Dinner | Risvel
Chiva-Som will host a charity dinner in support of mangrove planting and mangrove conservation efforts in honor of International Mangrove Ecosystem Conservation Day. Chiva-Som has been committed to sustainable development activities since its establishment 28 years ago and has continued to protect mangroves for more than 15 years.
In 2015, UNESCO designated July 26 as the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. Aims to raise awareness of endangered and valuable mangrove forests and promote sustainable conservation management and utilization.
Not only are mangroves vital to maintaining coastal ecosystems, but they also play an important role as shelters that protect a variety of marine life, barriers against coastal erosion and flooding, and filters that improve water quality. However, with the development of coastal areas and the transformation of land use, the world’s mangroves have been drastically reduced in the past half century.
Chiva-Som’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond day-to-day operations to include wellness programs and community events for guests to experience, including support for hill tribes. Among them, “Cryler Niwei”, which protects the only remaining mangroves in Hua Hin, is a project that symbolizes Chiva-Som’s sustainable development activities.
The project was launched in 2007. So far, more than 11,000 mangroves have been planted, and a 1-kilometer-long elevated corridor has been built. You can walk in the mangroves and feel the healing effect of nature. I am coming.
Chiva-Som will plant mangrove saplings on July 26, 2023, the International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. To coincide with the year-round “Friends of Chiva-Som” campaign aimed at promoting sustainable tourism, the campaign’s ambassadors are renowned Thai actress Suquan Brakle and Michelin-starred chef Dan Burke. He will join Chiva-Som employees and resort guests.
Later in the evening, Dan Burke and Chiva-Som Executive Chef Shinchai Threewiper will host a charity dinner. Dinner attendees can enjoy an eight-course healthy meal at the resort’s Taste of Siam restaurant overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Our chef has prepared a menu that includes hors d’oeuvre and caviar hors d’oeuvres, root and truffle, tender Austrian beef with sauerkraut and miso, white fish grouper and traditional Thai snack myankham. The menu is inspired by unique desserts and includes fresh, organic dishes sourced from Chiva-Som’s own garden vegetables.
Tickets for the charity dinner are THB 9,000 per person. Tickets including wine pairing are THB 10,000. All profits from the charity dinner will be donated to the Kraira Niwei mangrove conservation project.
