Asia’s largest tulip garden opened to the public last week and has been visited by some 115,000 people since it opened on March 19. With some 68 species of tulips, it’s easy to see why the Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden is a popular tourist attraction.

Also known as Siraj Bagh, the garden is located between Dal Lake and Mount Jabawan in Srinagar, India.

About 500 gardeners tended 1.5 million bulbs and flowers, preparing them for garden visitors, according to the Indian Express.

The garden plays an important role in bridging the slow time between the Kashmir Valley’s busy winter and summer tourist seasons. The summer tourist season usually starts in Jammu and Kashmir in the last week of April, but the gardens have moved the start date forward.

The gardens will be open throughout April, and other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils and cyclamen will also be on display.

If you can’t make it to the Kashmir Valley this spring, click through the slideshow above to take a virtual tour of the blossoming gardens.
