Siargao topped the list in Asia, with Palawan in third and Boracay in eighth
Three of the country’s most popular tourist destinations – Siargao, Palawan and Boracay – have been named among the best islands for 2021, according to Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards list.
Of the 85 islands chosen, three Philippine beaches made it to the travel site’s list, with Surigao del Norte’s teardrop-shaped surf haven Siargao topping the Asian category with a score of 97.77. Siargao was followed by Indonesia’s Raja Ampat (97.67) and Palawan (97.54) in third place.
Following Palawan are Indonesia’s Bali (94.37), Sri Lanka (94.32), Malaysia’s Langkawi (93.96), Thailand’s Koh Samui (93.33) and eighth-ranked Boracay (93.26) (93.26) . Phuket beaches in Thailand came last.
The list also includes the United States, Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, and the islands of Central, South, and North America.
The number one island in Europe is Hvar in Croatia (96.56), St. Barts in the Caribbean (94.29), Bora Bora in the South Pacific (93.85), and Sekas in Panama in South America (95.22). ), the United States is Hilton Head Island (94.26).
Mozambique’s Bazaruto Islands scored the highest out of 85 countries, followed by Canada’s Cape Breton (97.97), Siargao, Raja Ampat and Palawan.
Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards are determined by travel surveys answered by more than 20,000 readers worldwide. According to the website, this year’s list “reflects where travelers are most looking forward to and how the travel industry is slowly beginning to reopen”.
Siargao is no stranger to international acclaim – the tiny island was named one of Conde Nast Traveler’s Best Holiday Destinations 2020 and was recognized as “Asia’s Best Island” in October 2018.Surfing spot is also one of them time Magazine’s 2021 “Greatest Places in the World”.
