Bangkok MRT Yellow Line will start operation on June 3 with a one-month free fare | Travels in Asia






The Yellow Line of the Bangkok Metro, Thailand’s first monorail line, will begin operations on June 3, 2023.

The railway began trial operation in October last year and officially started passenger operations on June 3. It will be free for 1 month.

There will be 23 stations along the 30.4km stretch between Ladprao and Samrong. Since the train line runs through the suburbs of Bangkok, there are many places that are unfamiliar to travelers. Nine of the 23 stations are named “Sea”.

ศรี is an auspicious word derived from Sanskrit, meaning prosperity and glory. In Thailand, place names such as Sriracha and Sisaket are commonly used, and Sri in Sri Lanka also has the same origin.
