Bangkok hosts climate change and sustainable urban development forum
Academics, experts and policymakers from Europe and Southeast Asia gathered in Bangkok on March 14 for a four-day forum aimed at promoting international cooperation on climate change and sustainable urban development.
The “Transformative Future: Clim/Sust SE Asia 2023” forum, co-hosted by the University of Groningen, Thammasat University and Gadjah Mada University, is planned to be held at the Royal Princess Langlong Hotel, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok.
The event, chaired by Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Tavida Kamolvi, provided participants with an opportunity to learn from international experts and collaborate on future projects related to climate change to discuss sustainable development in Southeast Asia, and to address these contribute to international efforts on pressing issues.
Personnel from the Institute of Metropolitan Development and the Institute of Urban Community Development under the supervision of Navamindradhiraj University in Bangkok are also expected to participate in the forum.
Tavida emphasized that the gathering also facilitated the exchange of data, knowledge, hypotheses, ideas and suggestions among Bangkok officials, professors, students, academics and their international counterparts, emphasizing the Bangkok Metropolitan Government’s openness to new inputs that could be transformed Policies to further improve urban well-being.
