The Indonesian Minister said on January 31, 2022 that the world-renowned tourist destination Bali will reopen to all international tourists from February 4.
The required quarantine period for fully vaccinated travelers entering Indonesia has been shortened to five days from the previous seven days, Luhut, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, told a news conference.
How Bali’s reopening is progressing
October limited delivery
Three months ago, Indonesia decided to reopen Bali to all foreign tourists, allowing nationals of a handful of countries to enter Bali and the Riau archipelago.
Countries previously planned include China, South Korea, India, Japan, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, France and Spain, among others.
Passengers at that time had to undergo mandatory quarantine at their own expense and show proof of hotel reservations.
This is the first time Bali has opened to foreign tourists in 18 months. But Tourism Secretary Sandiaga Uno reportedly said there would be no direct flights since a limited reopening in October 2021.
Singapore-Indonesia Travel Bubble
Bali is one of the top tourist destinations in Indonesia, known for its beaches, lush green landscapes and temples. Bali reportedly attracted more than 6 million tourists in 2019.
However, pandemic-era restrictions have disrupted tourism development in Bali. But tourism in Indonesia is on the mend.
Last week, Singapore announced that people traveling to the country from the city-state would not be required to undergo quarantine.
Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on Jan. 24 that a travel bubble will be established between Singapore and the Indonesian resorts of Batam and Bintan starting Jan. 25, 2022 .
Some restrictions remain in place, such as visitors to Nongsa in Batam and Lagoi in Bintan will not be allowed to travel to other parts of Indonesia.
