Bali cash conversion hack shocks internet: ‘very clever’
An Australian tourist in Bali has stunned social media with her daughter’s clever cash-changing skills.
The woman, who shared her advice in a Facebook group, said her 6-year-old daughter likes to pay for her stuff abroad and the hack helped her out.
“The way she knows what denomination she has is by covering the last three zeros with her thumb so she knows whether she has 20,000 or 2,000 and so on,” she said.

“This seems to be the best way so far not to confuse her notes.”
Covering the four zeros with your thumb also helps with the Australian dollar exchange rate, the woman added.
Other travelers were blown away by this simple trick and thanked the woman for her advice.
“Sounds like a great idea,” one person said.
“I’m going to show this to my husband!” another added.
The six-year-old’s idea impressed others in the group.
“Good for your daughter, I love it!” said one.
“Very smart. Glad your kids are starting to learn about this currency,” added another.
“Your daughter is smarter than me,” joked a third.
Bali’s official currency is the Indonesian rupiah (Rp), which consists of coins ranging from 25 rupiah to 1000 rupiah and notes ranging from 1000 rupiah to 100,000 rupiah.
As of May, 1 Australian dollar was equal to 9867 Indonesian rupiah.
While Australians can use Australian dollars as a form of payment at some of the larger hotels and other establishments, travelers are advised to use Indonesian rupiah whenever possible.
