The Angkor Archaeological Park will receive 287,454 foreign tourists in 2022, generating more than US$11.5 million in ticket sales, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said at a news conference
As the country’s Covid-19 crisis eases, foreign tourists to Cambodia have also increased as the country and Angkor temples reopen to attract tourists back.
A portion of the ticket proceeds is donated to the Kantha Bopha Foundation Cambodia to support the humanitarian activities of Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital.
Located in the northwest of Siem Reap Province, Angkor Archaeological Park covers an area of 401 square kilometers. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992, it is the most popular tourist destination in this Southeast Asian country.
In the pre-pandemic era, Angkor resorts received as many as 2.2 million international tourists in 2019, generating $99 million in ticket sales, according to Angkor Enterprise.
The Royal Government of Cambodia has approved the 2021-2025 roadmap to restore tourism in Cambodia during and after the COVID-19 crisis, and the Siem Reap Tourism Development Master Plan 2021-2035.
