AirAsia X resumes Kuala Lumpur-Amritsar direct flight


AirAsia X (AAX) continues to expand its medium-haul network, renewing its non-stop service from Kuala Lumpur to Amritsar in northern India.

From 3 September 2023, the four-weekly service will provide guests with access to Amritsar, a destination with great potential in terms of religious significance, tourist attractions, business opportunities and trade prospects.

As the second destination to India after New Delhi, the route will add 157,263 seats per annum to AAX’s capacity between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar.

AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer Benyamin Ismail said, “We are delighted to restart our direct service to Amritsar, home to the world-famous Golden Temple. Offering our guests in the region the chance to visit the Holy City at affordable prices and also offering those in Amritsar the chance to visit amazing resorts at the best value fares including Perth, Our Fly-Thru service is available in Melbourne, Bali, Bangkok and more.

“The relaunch of this route is also part of our efforts to strengthen AAX’s position in South Asia, complementing our strong network in North Asia. We are optimistic that the relaunch of this route will not only boost our mid-haul Destination services will also contribute to overall business growth.”

To celebrate the re-launch, AAX is offering promotional all-in* fares of RM299* one-way for Economy Class and RM999* one-way for Premium Flatbed Seats. In addition, guests traveling to and from Amritsar can enjoy 50% discount on checked bags at the time of booking from now until 2 July 2023, for travel between 3 September 2023 and 30 March 2024.

Amritsar is one of the popular destinations in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab, which is underserved in the Asia-Pacific region. The city is also home to the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), the holiest shrine of Sikhism, and is home to many historical monuments including the Jallianwala Bagh, the Wagah border and the Gobindgarh Fort.
