AirAsia Unlimited Pass Cuti-Cuti Malaysia travel period extended until 30 June 2021
If you purchased the AirAsia Unlimited Pass for RM399 for domestic travel within Malaysia, here is some good news for you. The low-cost carrier has announced that it is extending the travel period on the Unlimited Pass from March 31 to June 30, 2021.
According to AirAsia, the extension is aimed at giving passengers the opportunity to get the most value out of the Unlimited Pass while interstate travel is allowed. Due to the current Movement Control Order, interstate travel is not permitted until further notice. Except for certain areas in Sarawak, all states have implemented movement control orders until February 4, 2021.
In addition to the Malaysia Cuti-Cuti Unlimited Pass, AirAsia has earlier extended the travel period of the AirAsia X Unlimited Pass worth RM499 until June 30, 2021. As of the time of writing, the international pass has not been extended further, and in fact, depending on the global situation, international tourism will be put on hold for an extended period of time. Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases globally, Singapore recently announced that it will suspend its reciprocal green lane arrangements with several countries, including Malaysia, from 1 February.
With a COVID-19 vaccine set to be rolled out in the coming months, proof of vaccination may soon be required for international travel. The move to require COVID-19 vaccinations was suggested by Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce, a view shared by AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes. To speed up the verification process, Singapore Airlines has started trials of a digital health verification solution that can quickly check passengers’ COVID-19 test results and vaccination status via QR codes.
