According to InsideJapan – Travel Weekly, Japanese tourism is in full bloom this cherry blossom season


After two-and-a-half years of closed borders and no international travel, Japan appears to have embarked on a post-pandemic life with a remarkably successful 2019 that included the Rugby World Cup and InsideJapan’s biggest-ever year of travel.

Cherry blossom season in Japan remains the most popular time of year to travel to the Land of the Rising Sun, with tourists looking to experience the pink country. This year marks the first time since spring 2019 that international visitors are allowed into Japan to enjoy the “hanami” season, and the blooms are sure to be in full bloom.

Harry Sargant, InsideJapan’s Brisbane-based trade manager, said: “Although there have been some challenges with flight availability and certain services, 2023 has so far been the busiest flowering season for InsideJapan on record.

InsideJapan welcomes more than 2,000 guests during peak bloom each year from mid-March to early April, combining self-guided adventures and small-group tours.

Tyler Palma, InsideJapan’s head of operations in Japan, said Japan felt more popular than ever this year.

“Certain areas of Tokyo and Kyoto have been very busy and seem to be dominated by international tourists.
