6 enticing South-East Asian luxury resorts opening this year

After several years of turmoil, popular cities and seaside destinations in Southeast Asia will see a massive tourism recovery in 2023.

Thailand expects as many as 10 million tourists from China alone this year. The Philippines, once ranked the worst-hit place by Covid-19, has seen tourism growth faster than the global tourism average of 5.8%, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Vietnam is similarly primed for prosperity, while in Indonesia, Kimpton, Hilton-owned LXR Hotels & Resorts and other luxury brands entered the country for the first time.

As well as Asian residents returning to their favorite hotspots, more international tourists are planning to return to long-distance vacations to laze on the white-sand beaches and splash in the turquoise waters of Southeast Asia.

Here are some of the most promising beachfront resorts to open in the region in 2022

There is an on-site farm that supplies most of the produce served in the beach club restaurant. A school for local residents will be part of the resort’s way of giving back, providing training in farming and landscaping skills that locals can use on their own land or in the hospitality industry.

Modern, locally designed suites and villas accommodate up to three bedrooms and are just steps away from the sparkling beach and breathtaking azure waters. Listed experiences include biking, climbing waterfalls and community-led experiences like the island’s famous sandalwood ponies. Opening April 2023.
